Families Protecting [the agri-barons of] the Valley's newsletter is always good for a laugh. This time they're blaming the layoff of Fresno's teachers and city employees on water restrictions. The truth is that Fresno is part of the eastern San Joaquin valley and most Fresno growers received 100% of their water allocations. I wonder how 'Families' explains the layoffs of teachers and city employees in urban areas, lack of water again? Or could it be that the taxes we pay for subsidizing the electricity and on-the-ground infrastructure so farmers can get the cheapest water in the state (and many times sell it for obscene profit to municipalities) would be better directed to city government and schools and the farmers pay the actual costs of the water they now get on the dole.
