Benefit Bass Tournament just six weeks away [Delta]
September 3, 2010 -- A three division bass tournament will be held on October17, with 2/3 of the proceeds going to Restore the Delta and the California Sportfishing Protection Alliance. The tournament is divided up into conventional boats, fly fishing and kayaks/kickboats. The buy ins are $150 for the first two classes and $75 for the kayak/kickboat class.

They want to go back to work and catch salmon. Get the DOI off their butt and force DWR to stop Delta diversions, help municipalities clean up discharge systems, tear down needless dams and restore spawning gravels. Salmon fishermen are not Westlands farmers, they don't want a permanent dole as 'relief', they want to work for a living, FISHING. Former Foothill Conservancy director and newsletter editor dies
August 31, 2010 -- Keith Hearn, former Conservancy director and newsletter editor, passed away last Saturday in Asheville, N.C., where he and wife Ellen Beegel moved after retiring in 2007. Hearn, a professional journalist for 39 years, worked for newspapers, the Associated Press, and labor unions. He was a founder of the Amador Citizens for Peace. The truth is that Fresno is part of the eastern San Joaquin valley and most Fresno growers received 100% of their water allocations. I wonder how 'Families' explains the layoffs of teachers and city employees in urban areas, lack of water again? Or could it be that the taxes we pay for subsidizing the electricity and on-the-ground infrastructure so farmers can get the cheapest water in the state (and many times sell it for obscene profit to municipalities) would be better directed to city government and schools and the farmers pay the actual costs of the water they now get on the dole.
